I love anime; I love the action,
the humor, and the stories they tell. So I decided hey why not put my own 2
cents into the One Piece series. In this analysis I
will cover the arc, good guys, bad guys, character development,
location, and the series as a whole. Basically it will give me an excuse to
watch the whole series from beginning all over again. Warning there will be
spoilers and it’s going too be a long read so get your reading glasses and
enjoy this little review of One piece.
Romance dawn arc
We begin the review with a marine
ship that’s throwing a fancy party. The marines spot a barrel that came out of
a whirlpool and think it might have sake in it (or rum sense that’s a popular
alcohol back then) so they fish it out and throw it below deck. Then the first
villain of the show captain Alvida arrives. She is the captain of the Alvida
pirates (yeah I know pretty dumb) her ship has a swan figurehead; heart logo on the sails and
there flag is a skull with a heart on its side. She is a big woman with a
red-feathered hat and a giant spiked club. She thinks she is the most beautiful
woman in the world and anyone who disagrees will die on the spot.
Well captain A
(calling her that cause I don’t feel like saying her name 50 times) attacks the
marine ship that is throwing the party. There is a red headed girl who is
sneaky/smart enough too get away from the pirates and steal all the pirates
gold while there distracted. I like her we don’t find out who she is till much
later but just by seeing her act in stealing from a notorious pirate group like
that then you know she must be tough.
Well the
pirates climb a bored the marine ship except for their cabin boy Cody. Cody is
a young boy who happens too be a complete coward hes only on the pirate ship
cause he accidentally went on their rowboat and begged them not too kill him.
After Captain A yells at him too move he jumps on the marine ship and runs down
below. He spots the barrel from before and decides too take it too captain A
but is stopped by the other pirates in his crew. They think that they can just
drink all the booze and A wont know about it. Then a guy busts out of the
barrel knocking out one of the crewmates screaming “I SLEPT GOOD”.
This man is
Monkey D Luffy the first Main character in this anime. Hes rather dumb, naive,
always hungry, and always acts before thinking but hes crazy strong and he is
made of rubber thanks too the gum gum fruit. I will explain more on that in the
next arc.
After Luffy
takes out the other 2 pirates him and Cody talk for a bit Luffy explains hes
after the one piece a legendary treasure a great and powerful pirate named Gold
D Rodgers hid from the world and when he finds it he will become the king of
the pirates. Cody then explains that his dream is too become a member of the
marines but hes too afraid of death too leave captain A’s crew. Luffy then
explains that no matter what hes going too try and make his dream come true
even if he dies. Cody then yells that hes going too leave the crew and become a
marine and eventually will capture Captain A.
Unfortunately she over hears
him and she gets pissed off. Luffy then shows off his devil fruit powers by
stretching his body and taking out most of the pirates. Cody seeing how amazing
Luffy is calls Captain A “THE UGLIEST WOMEN HES EVER SEEN”. Which she attacks
him with her club. Luffy jumps in front of her and takes the hit from her club
but doesn’t feel a thing. He then uses his first signature attack the gum gum
pistol. Which is used by stretching his arm as far as he can backwards and
punching his opponent at full force. She flies 100 feet in the air and lands in
the ocean. Luffy then takes a small boat from the pirates and sails too the
closest island shell island.
On there way too Shell Island
Cody explains about the pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro. Zoro is a famous pirate
hunter who uses 3 swords instead of 1. He uses his mouth for 1 of the swords.
Hes probably the strongest person in the show but he has horrible sense of
direction, his dream is too become the greatest swordsman in the world so he
vows never too lose too another swordsman.
Luffy and Cody get too the
island and track down Zoro who is tied too a post. It appears he angered
Lieutenant Commander Helmeppo. Who happens too be the son of the marine captain on the island. So his punishment is too stay at
the post for 1 straight month no food or water and if he can do that then they
will forget the whole thing happened. Unfortunately Helmeppo never intended too
agree too that so he plans too kill Zoro the next day. Luffy hears that and
punches him square in the face, which upsets Helmeppo (yeah these names are
just crazy). So Luffy goes too rescue Zoro while Helmeppo tells his dad
Captain Morgan is a tall
beefy man who has a metal jaw and an ax for a hand. He gets angry when people
don’t respect him. He is the highest class on the base so he believes that
makes him the boss of the whole island. He demands tax money too build a statue
of him and when his son tells him about Luffy he just punches him. (Ok he did
deserve it but still.)
Anyway Luffy tries too untie Zoro
but Zoro asks him too find his swords and if Luffy does then he will join his
crew. Luffy searches the base and hears some noise on the roof so he stretches
up there too see what’s going on. He then accidentally breaks the giant statue
and pisses off Morgan. In desperation Luffy grabs Helmeppo and asks him where Zoro’s
swords are. Helmeppo tells him there in his room and Luffy grabs them. He
delivers his swords and Zoro cuts himself free and then prepares too fight Morgan.
It’s a quick fight luffy is immune too gun shots and he just stretches his leg
out too defeat all the marines. Helmeppo tries too hold Cody hostage but Cody
doesn’t care if he dies as long as Morgan loses cause he doesn’t deserve too be
a marine captain. Luffy punches Helmeppo and Zoro cuts Morgan’s chest up (for
some reason a severe cut doesn’t kill people in this show). Everyone on the
island is happy and even the marines are happy Morgan has been defeated. Unfortunately
being a pirate is a crime and they ask luffy, Zoro and Cody too leave. Luffy
beats up Cody proving his not a member of their crew and Cody begs too join the
marines. They agree and luffy and Zoro sail off too there next adventure.
That was the first arc of the
series in my opinion it was a great first impression of the show. We only get
so little information, like where did luffy get his powers from, who is that
girl who keeps showing up, and in one of the episodes Zoro sees a flashback of
a little girl WHO IS SHE
